re-expoasia: Realities of Presence, Remains of Memory
The New Art Gallery Walsall and the Contemporary Asian Arts Group would like to invite everyone to take part and contribute their own photographs, as part of an exciting community exhibition in January 2009 that will aim to bring together memories of Asia.
Regardless of your cultural background, and whether you come from, have lived or just visited any part of Asia on holiday, and if you want to see your photos displayed at the gallery, this is the opportunity for you.
Colour or black and white, framed or unframed, old and new, we welcome all submissions. Your photographs will help us create a visual representation and juxtaposition of people’s lives, experiences, journeys, adventures and stories, past and present.
The re-expoasia exhibition will open to the public from 23 January to 1 February 2009 and will be the precursor of Re:Imagining Asia a major international visual art exhibition that explores the meaning and relevance of the term ‘contemporary Asian art’ in the 21st century.
If you want to become part of this exciting community exhibition, please bring them to The New Art Gallery Walsall reception desk, Monday to Saturday, 10am – 5pm and Sundays, 11am – 4pm. Please note that the deadline for submissions of photographs is Sunday 30 November 2008. While in the gallery, the photos submitted will be kept safe and will be returned to their owners after Monday 9 February 2009.
