Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery offers a free family friendly experience with free drop-in activities at weekends from 1pm - 4pm and selected weekdays during the school holidays from 11am - 4pm. There are also special themed children’s weekends throughout the year that offer a range of participatory activities.

The restaurant serves hot and cold meals and drinks every day and is open Monday – Saturday from 10.30am - 4.30pm and on Sundays from 12.30pm - 4.30pm.

The shop sells a wide range of gifts, greetings cards, postcards, exhibition catalogues, art books and souvenirs. There are toilets at various locations and baby changing facilities in the Parent and Child Room.

Can I take my camera…?

If you wish to take photographs in the gallery then please request a free photography pass at the Information Desk that allows you to take photographs for personal use.

How do I get there…?

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is located in Chamberlain Square in Birmingham City Centre. Click here for a map.

From M5 Junction 1, take A41; from M5 Junction 3, take A456 and from M6 Junction 6, take the A38 into the city centre; then follow the brown signs. There are plenty City Centre car parks within walking distant of the gallery.

Birmingham New Street, Birmingham Snow Hill and Birmingham Moor Street train stations are all approximately 10 minutes walk away. Just follow the signs to Chamberlain Square and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. It’s near the Floozi in the Jacuzzi and the Central Library.

There are excellent bus connections into the City Centre. Visit travelwm.co.uk.

You can also take The Metro to Birmingham Snow Hill station.

When is it open…?

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is open 7 days a week:

Monday - Thursday 10am - 5pm
Friday 10.30am - 5pm
Saturday 10am - 5pm
Sunday 12.30pm - 5pm

What about disability access…?

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery has lift access to all floors. Lifts can be found next to the Gas Hall entrance on Edmund Street. Wheelchairs are also available for use within the museum.

There is a free audio guide for the Victorian Gallery in the Round Room and many of the galleries have tactile and interactive displays which can be enjoyed by everybody.

Parking bays for Blue Badge Holders can be found nearby on Margaret Street, Edmund Street and Newhall Street.
