Ikon is a contemporary art gallery situated in central Birmingham. Visitors to the gallery will encounter art made by artists from around the world whose work includes painting, sculpture, film, photography and sound.
Ikon also provides resources for visitors who want to find out more about the exhibiting artists including gallery guides, young people’s gallery guides, videoed interviews with artists and practical activities in its second floor Resource room.
In addition, Ikon offers a range of free workshops, talks and events that are designed to challenge, excite and inspire visitors of all ages.

Café Ikon - 0121 248 3226 - is a highly regarded Spanish restaurant with excellent food and wine, housed within Ikon Gallery. Families are welcome and credit / debit cards are accepted. Opening times are as follows:
Monday - 12pm - 11pm
Tuesday - Saturday 11am - 11pm
Sunday 11am - 6pm
Ikon Shop - 0121 248 0711 -is Birmingham’s only specialist art bookshop, stocking a wide range of books, cards, artists’ multiples, magazines and gifts relating to art, design, photography, fashion, architecture and contemporary culture. Opening times are as follows:
Monday - 12pm - 6pm
Tuesday - Sunday 10.30am - 6pm
Can I take my camera…?
Visitors are welcome to take photographs (without flash) in the gallery but will be asked to sign a disclaimer confirming that such photographs are for their own use.
How do I get there…?
On foot from New Street train station
From New Street proceed to Chamberlain Square. Then up to the curved steps to the Central Library, through Paradise Forum and into Centenary Square. Bear left onto Broad St, passing the Hyatt Hotel on the left. Turn right onto Oozells St. Approximately 15 minutes.
By Road
A comprehensive motorway network system including the M5, M6, M40 and M42 links Birmingham with the rest of the country. Drivers should follow signs to Birmingham City Centre then look for the brown tourist signs to the Convention Centre, National Indoor Arena, Canals and Brindleyplace.

Orange and blue badge holders may park on double yellow lines on Oozells St. in accordance with badge guidelines. The nearest car park is Brindleyplace NCP on Sheepcote Street. There is a bicycle park outside the gallery.
When is it open…?
Ikon Gallery is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 6pm. It is closed on Mondays except Bank Holidays.
The Gallery is closed during installation of exhibitions, contact Ikon for details (see below).
What about disability access…?
Ikon Gallery is committed to providing access for all visitors. The building is wheelchair accessible, guide dogs are welcome and hearing loops are fitted throughout the galleries. For more information about access, please click here.
